Bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, this 12 Year Old Tomatin (Cask 11.37) is boldly titled “Cake or Death!” — a fitting name for a whisky that delivers unapologetic sweetness, richness and full-bodied character.
The nose is rich with brown sugar, butterscotch, orange marmalade and honey, layered with ripe red fruits and soft patisserie sweetness. Subtle earthy notes and a touch of barley add balance.
The palate is oily and full-bodied, delivering demerara sugar, baked pastries and sticky toffee pudding alongside blackberries and cherries. The finish is medium in length, with creamy fudge and a gentle hint of pepper.
