Linkwood 1985 Kask – K6 Kyoto Private Bottling is an exceptionally rare Speyside single malt from Linkwood Distillery, privately bottled for K6 of Kyoto, Japan. Individually numbered 44 of just 102 bottles produced, this is a remarkably scarce release from a distillery whose spirit is far more commonly destined for prestigious Scotch blends than released as a single malt.
Distilled in 1985, this mature Linkwood displays a wonderfully rich and developed character, with honeyed sweetness, caramel and old oak giving way to strawberry jam, stewed fruits and citrus. Vanilla and gentle spice emerge alongside the mature wood influence, creating a complex whisky that continues to evolve in the glass.
The unusual “Kask” presentation reflects the K6 Kyoto bottling, making this an intriguing and highly limited example of mature Linkwood with particular appeal to collectors of rare independent and Japanese-market Scotch releases
