This exceptionally rare Macallan 31 Year Old was distilled in May 1990 and bottled in December 2021 by renowned independent bottler Douglas Laing as part of the prestigious Xtra Old Particular (XOP) Black Series. Reserved for some of the finest and rarest casks in Douglas Laing's inventory, the Black Series represents the pinnacle of mature single cask Scotch whisky.
Matured for an astonishing 31 years in a single refill sherry hogshead, cask #15149, this remarkable Speyside single malt showcases the elegance and complexity that long ageing can bring to The Macallan's celebrated spirit. The refill sherry cask allows the distillery character to remain at the forefront while contributing subtle layers of dried fruit, spice, oak, and richness.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 42.3% ABV, without compromise, the whisky offers exceptional depth, balance, and refinement. Every bottle captures the unique character of this individual cask exactly as it emerged after more than three decades of maturation.
With an outturn of just 174 bottles worldwide, this is a genuinely scarce collector's release. Each bottle is presented in the striking XOP Black Series presentation case, reflecting the rarity and prestige of the whisky within.
