Dark Origins uses double the amount of first fill sherry oak casks used in Highland Park 12-year-old, allowing for a far richer taste than almost all other Highland Park expressions. A dark expression which fits in with the distillery's origins – founder Magnus Eunson, and his journey to make one of the greatest spirits in the world.
Nose: cinnamon, vanilla, dates Sherried spice and ripe bananas), a touch of blackcurrant/ liquorice.
Palate: Well-balanced, sweet, fragrant peat emerges with nutty melted milk chocolate, dry peat and a little orange alongside some pastries.
Finish: Dry chocolate, enduring sweet smoke.
