Glenglassaugh Peated Port Wood Finish is a distinctive Highland single malt released as part of the distillery’s Wood Finishes series, first introduced in 2017. As one of the earliest cask-finished expressions from Glenglassaugh, it highlights an innovative approach to flavour, combining gentle peat smoke with rich port cask influence.
This no age statement whisky is initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in ruby port pipes. The result is a well-balanced and approachable dram, where sweetness and smokiness are brought together in harmony.
On the palate, honeyed sweetness is layered with dark fruit notes, complemented by a mild, lingering peat smoke. The interplay between the rich port cask finish and the softly smoky spirit creates a complex yet easy-drinking whisky with plenty of character.
