The second release in Glen Scotia’s Icons of Campbeltown series, Release No.2 draws inspiration from Saint Michael, the courageous Archangel depicted on the historic Campbeltown Market Cross slaying a fire-breathing dragon. The annual series celebrates the stories, resilience, and community spirit that helped Campbeltown’s whisky industry endure through history.
To honour this legendary tale, Glen Scotia’s Master Blender selected a medium peated 14 year old single malt, finished for six months in ex-Barolo red wine casks. The result is a richly layered whisky where bold maritime salinity and gentle peat smoke are balanced by vibrant notes of candied red fruits, berries, spice, and oak.
Bottled as a limited edition release, the whisky captures Glen Scotia’s unmistakable coastal character while adding an indulgent depth from the Barolo cask finish. The striking packaging features artwork by acclaimed illustrator Joel Holtzman, bringing the legend of Saint Michael and the dragon vividly to life.
