This remarkable Bunnahabhain 30 Year Old is a rare and beautifully matured Islay single malt, independently bottled by Douglas Laing for the prestigious Xtra Old Particular Black Series. Distilled in November 1990 and bottled in April 2021, it spent three decades maturing in a single refill hogshead, allowing the distillery's elegant spirit to develop exceptional depth and complexity.
Drawn from cask #14861 and bottled at its natural cask strength of 43.5% ABV, this whisky showcases the refined side of Bunnahabhain. The nose opens with rich vanilla pods, honeyed barley, creamy caramel, and gentle charred oak. On the palate, tangy citrus fruits give way to juicy sultanas, dried apricots, and a subtle coastal character, reflecting the distillery's maritime origins.
The finish is long and elegant, with notes of tangerine zest, milk chocolate, candied nuts, and delicate hints of Islay seaweed lingering beautifully.
Presented with natural colour and no chill filtration, this Black Series release offers the whisky exactly as it emerged from the cask. With only 291 bottles produced worldwide, it is a highly collectible example of mature Bunnahabhain at its finest.
