Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Year Old Batch 4 is a rare and highly sought-after Islay single malt, inspired by the famous Traigh Bhan (pronounced tri-van), or "Singing Sands" beach on the island's rugged southern coast. Part of Ardbeg's acclaimed and collectible Traigh Bhan series, this fourth batch showcases the distillery's mastery of long maturation, balancing powerful peat smoke with remarkable elegance and complexity.
Matured in a carefully selected combination of American oak and Oloroso sherry casks, with a slightly higher proportion of Oloroso casks in this release, Batch 4 delivers a richer and more indulgent interpretation of aged Ardbeg. The additional sherry influence adds layers of sweetness and depth while allowing the distillery's unmistakable smoky character to shine.
The nose opens with aromas of herbal pine, fennel, lime sorbet, and medicinal lozenges, followed by waves of eucalyptus, saddle leather, vanilla, currants, and hints of minted chocolate. On the palate, intense wood smoke and dark chocolate give way to sweet lemon curd, salted peanut brittle, creamy raisin fudge, and roasted hazelnuts. As the whisky develops, notes of aniseed, menthol, clove, white pepper, and cocoa emerge, creating a beautifully layered and evolving tasting experience.
Rich, complex, and unmistakably Ardbeg, the finish is long, smoky, savoury, and intensely satisfying, leaving lingering impressions of peat smoke, spice, and dark sweetness.
