A bold Campbeltown single malt from Glengyle Distillery, Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 12 delivers an intense smoky profile balanced by sweetness and complexity.
Matured in a combination of 90% bourbon casks and 10% sherry casks, this cask strength release showcases the powerful, spirit-driven character of Kilkerran. Produced by the Springbank team, Glengyle distillery operates for just a few months each year, making releases like this limited and highly sought after.
The nose opens with creamy butterscotch and caramel, developing into notes of rye bread and tea leaf. On the palate, a familiar oily texture and robust peat smoke are joined by hints of Iberico ham and brandy snaps, alongside touches of citrus and sweet cereal. The finish is long and evolving, with lemon sherbet, honeycomb and mint, as the peat smoke lingers with a mineral, gently spiced edge.
A compelling balance of raw smoky power and refined maturation, offering excellent value for a cask strength whisky.
