Introduced in 2018 as the flagship Port Charlotte expression, this 10-year-old single malt from Bruichladdich showcases the bold, unmistakable character of heavily peated Islay whisky. Peated to 40 PPM, it delivers a powerful yet refined smoky profile that has quickly become a favourite among peat lovers.
Matured using a combination of first-fill and second-fill American whiskey casks, alongside second-fill French wine casks, Port Charlotte 10 Year Old achieves remarkable balance between intensity and elegance. The influence of the casks softens the peat while allowing layers of sweetness, maritime freshness, and gentle fruit to shine through.
On the nose, rich notes of salted caramel, chocolate brownies, orange zest, and coastal seaweed emerge. The palate follows with oak smoke, sea air, custard cream biscuits, and white grapes, leading into a long, warming finish of peat smoke, rye toast, and gingerbread.
