Glaschu Spirits Company Strathdearn 10 Year Old 2014 is a limited single cask Highland single malt, released under the Strathdearn pseudonym used for Tomatin Distillery spirit. Distilled in the Monadhliath Mountains near Loch Ness, Tomatin is renowned for producing a soft and delicate whisky, shaped by the pure waters of the Alt-na-Frith.
This expression spent its first nine years maturing in a refill bourbon barrel before being transferred to a first-fill Madeira wine cask for a final year of finishing. The Madeira influence transforms the whisky into a rich and vibrant dram, adding layers of apricot, caramel, custard, and warming spice to Tomatin’s naturally smooth and fruity character.
Bottled at 50% ABV, with natural colour and without chill filtration, this single cask release is limited to just 324 bottles, making it a rare and distinctive expression.
The label artwork features the “Viperfish,” a homemade fiberglass submarine used by US Navy submariner Dan Taylor during his famous searches for the Loch Ness Monster.
