Macallan 12 Year Old (2016–2018 Bottling)

The Macallan 12 Year Old is a classic Speyside single malt from one of Scotland’s most prestigious distilleries. This particular presentation was bottled between 2006 and 2018, before The Macallan refreshed its core range and rebranded the expression under the Sherry Oak name. As an earlier, discontinued version of the celebrated 12 Year Old, it offers particular appeal to Macallan enthusiasts and collectors seeking older bottlings.

Matured for 12 years exclusively in carefully selected sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain, this expression showcases the rich, traditional character for which The Macallan has long been renowned. The sherry oak maturation brings together dried fruits, warming wood spice, sweet oak and a beautifully rounded richness, complemented by the whisky’s natural deep gold colour.

Although the 12 Year Old continues today under the Sherry Oak range, this original 2006–2018 presentation is no longer produced. Its distinctive earlier packaging and place in The Macallan’s history make it an increasingly interesting bottle for collectors, as well as those who appreciate the distillery’s classic sherry-matured style.
