The Daftmill 2011 Winter Batch Release is another highly sought-after expression from the Cuthbert family's remarkable farm distillery in Fife. Distilled in the cold of December 2011 using barley grown on the Daftmill estate, this limited release showcases the distillery's meticulous farm-to-bottle approach and elegant Lowland character.
The whisky was matured for 12 years in 27 first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, before being bottled in 2024 just a few weeks shy of its 13th birthday. The fresh bourbon casks beautifully complement Daftmill's delicate spirit, creating layers of honeyed barley, marzipan, vanilla and sweet grassy notes. The palate develops with baked apple, caramel, citrus zest and gentle spice, leading to a refined, lingering finish filled with creamy vanilla and orchard fruit.
With an outturn of just 7,500 bottles, the Winter 2024 Release is a superb example of Daftmill's understated style, combining estate-grown barley, patient maturation and carefully selected first-fill bourbon casks.
