A cask-strength single malt from Old Pulteney, bottled exclusively for TWE. This rich and fruity dram, of which only 612 bottles are available, was matured in a single sherry cask between 2004 and 2018.
Nose: Deep and intense sherry notes with sultanas and caramelized baked apple, toffee and chocolate fudge brownies With some water added more fruitiness is revealed with more chocolate and spice, and even a gingery edge.
Palate: The texture is very creamy with an avalanche of sweet and thick dried fruit spread, but the arrival is quite aggressive (chilli peppers), which, isn’t a surprise considering its alcohol percentage. More chocolate-y flavours here, with a tiny hint of Pulteney’s signature saltiness. It benefits from a few drops of water but does become a tad dryer.
Finish: Figs, chocolate, peppery, salty and sweet with the dried fruit.
